It may be daunting to plan a trip to China even if you have already experienced many travels abroad. Planning your first trip to China could use some help.
The places in China where you want to go is the first thing that you should consider. You can go to Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai. If you have time, you can also visit Guilin and Chengdu. Choose places that will interest you much. Research on these areas and consider where you really want to go. It is important also to determine the activities that can be done in these places.
In Beijing you will see both historical and modern places. You must see Beijing since it is home to China’s Great Wall and the Forbidden City.
For history lovers, Xi’an is the place in China to visit. The nation of China had its roots here. This is the place where the first emperor of China ruled. The Great Mosque, the grand Terracotta Army, and the Wild Big Goose Pagodas can also be seen here.
The largest and showiest city of China in Shanghai. This the modern city has a great skyline with towering buildings. Hangzhou, Suzhou or Huangshan are water towns that you can tour.
If you want some picturesque scenery then you can visit Guilin where a Chinese minority lives. It has a beautiful landscape and a relaxing escape from the city. You can cruise the Li River to Yangshuo. If you are interested in the minority culture you can spend some days at the Longji Rice Terraces. Visitng Chengdu will make you experience the giant pandas. If you want to taste a great cuisine like the Spicy Sichuan hotpot, then Chengdu is the place to go.
The next thing to do is to decide the duration of your stay. A week in China would be ideal if you don’t just want to scratch the surface of China.
You should be aware of the gateway cities and the visa policy of China. Beijing and Shanghai are the top gateway cities for international flights. Hong Kong is also a gateway city for entering China.
One of your considerations should be the best time to travel to China. Throughout the year it is ideal to visit China’s cultural and historical attraction. The seasons don’t affect the things to do in these regions. For a China tour, the most comfortable and highly recommended times are during spring and autumn or from April to October.
